Run Programs Automatically When a User Logs On with GPO follow steps below:

  1. Log on to Windows server 2012 and Open Group Policy Managment and create new policy:

2. Right click on created GPO and click Edit..:

3. Navigate to Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon and double click on Run These Programs at User Logon:

4. Click Enable and then Click on Show… and enter the program which you want to run on at user log on(For example Internet Explorer) and click ok and then OK again:

5. Now we need to apply  that GPO on OU which we want. So right  click OU and click Link an Exiting GPO… :

6. Choose GPO Run Program on log on and click OK.

After Restart you will see that Internet explorer runs automatically.
